As an enhancement to the basic programme and with the company’s agreement all those individuals requesting or requiring a medical examination would be offered one.

Screen Content

A detailed physical examination to identify a range of conditions and assess risk factors to the individual in undertaking the proposed job and shift pattern.

To include:

  • Blood Pressure and Pulse
  • Urinalysis
  • Height
  • Weight and Body Mass Index
  • Mobility, Posture, Skeletal Assessment
  • Vision Test for acuity, tunnel vision and colour blindness
  • Lung Function Test (if indicated, note - more people on night shifts smoke)
  • Blood Analysis (if indicated)
  • ECG (If over 40 years old)
  • Advice / Counselling on Health Education issues e.g: Stress management, Breast examination, Cervical smear test, Testicular self-examination, smoking.
  • Detailed discussion of the results with the individual • Written Report and recommendations to individual.
  • Summary Report to company (the employee’s rights to medical confidentiality will be respected)
  • A 'Certificate of Fitness for Work'
